Who we are

Fanbaseaway ("we", "us", "our") is a football fan meetup service operated by Silencio Network LLC, a company registered in Delaware, United States.

Our purpose is to help football fans living abroad find other fans to watch matches with during the FIFA World Cup 2026 and other tournaments.

What personal data we collect

We collect the following information when you use Fanbaseaway:

When you browse (no account needed):

• Your approximate location, derived from your IP address, used only to suggest cities near you during onboarding. We do not store your IP address after this purpose is fulfilled.
• Device and browser information (browser type, language preferences, screen size) — used to display the site correctly.
• Anonymous usage analytics (which pages you visit, how long you stay) — used to improve the service.

When you register to attend or create an event:

• Your full name
• Your email address
• Your age range (optional)
• Your gender (optional, with "prefer not to say" option)
• Your consent preferences (explicit opt-ins)

When you create or attend events:

• The nation you follow
• The city you watch from (selected via Google Maps)
• Your attendance at specific events
• Events you have created

How we use your data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

1. To provide the Fanbaseaway service — matching you with fans in your city, showing you relevant events, letting you attend and create meetups.
2. To communicate with you about the service — changes to events you're attending, reminders about upcoming matches, service updates (e.g., maintenance notifications). This is based on our legitimate interest in providing a functional service.
3. To send Fanbaseaway marketing communications (ONLY if you opt in) — newsletters about Fanbaseaway, sponsor offers related to the service, related updates. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in every email or by contacting us directly.
4. To send communications from Silencio Network LLC about the Silencio voice AI platform (ONLY if you opt in separately) — if you give separate explicit consent, Silencio Network LLC, the parent company operating Fanbaseaway, may contact you about its separate voice AI contribution platform (silencio.network), which pays contributors to record voice data that helps train AI systems. This is an optional, separate consent that does not affect your use of Fanbaseaway. You can withdraw this consent anytime.
5. To generate aggregate, anonymized insights for sponsors and partners — for example, "X% of fans in Berlin attended Argentine meetups during the tournament." Individual users are never identified in these aggregates.
6. To improve and secure the service — detect abuse, prevent fraud, analyze usage patterns to build better features.
7. To comply with legal obligations — respond to lawful requests from authorities, as applicable.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

We process your data based on:

• Contract performance (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)): to provide you the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): to improve our service, prevent abuse, and communicate about your events.
• Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): for marketing communications from Fanbaseaway, for separate marketing from Silencio Network LLC, and for aggregate data sharing with partners. Each consent is separately given and can be withdrawn at any time.
• Legal obligation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)): where required by law.

Who we share your data with

We share your personal data with:

Service providers who help us run Fanbaseaway:

• Supabase (our database host, EU region)
• Lovable (our application platform)
• Mapbox (for city and venue search)
• Email service provider (for transactional and marketing emails)

These providers process your data only on our behalf and under contract (GDPR Data Processing Agreements).

Silencio Network LLC (our parent company, Delaware, USA), for the specific purpose of sending you marketing communications about their separate voice AI contribution platform — BUT ONLY if you have given explicit, separate consent during registration. Without this consent, your data is not shared with Silencio for marketing purposes.

Partners and sponsors, in aggregated and anonymized form only (if you have consented). Individual emails, names, and personal details are never shared with sponsors or third parties.

We do NOT sell your personal data to anyone under any circumstances.

International data transfers

Your data is stored in the European Union (Supabase EU region).

Some of our service providers (Lovable, Mapbox, our email service provider) may process data in the United States. Silencio Network LLC is also based in the United States.

When personal data is transferred outside the EU, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to ensure equivalent data protection standards, in accordance with GDPR Chapter V.

How long we keep your data

• Registration data (name, email, preferences) — kept while your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove it within 30 days.
• Event attendance records — kept for 12 months after the event, then anonymized for historical analytics.
• Marketing preferences — kept until you withdraw consent.
• Aggregated, anonymized data — kept indefinitely (no personal information is retained).

Your rights under GDPR

If you're in the European Union, United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, you have these rights:

• Right to access: request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to correction: fix inaccurate data we hold
• Right to deletion ("right to be forgotten"): request removal of your personal data
• Right to restriction: limit how we process your data
• Right to portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object: object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Right to withdraw consent: withdraw any consent anytime, including marketing consent from Fanbaseaway and separate consent for Silencio Network LLC marketing communications

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Children's data

Fanbaseaway is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics (a privacy-respecting alternative to Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our site.

Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not track you across other websites, and is fully GDPR-compliant. Plausible is hosted in the EU and complies with EU privacy law.

Cookies and tracking

Fanbaseaway uses:

• Essential cookies for basic site functionality (session identification, language preference, onboarding state). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies for understanding how users use the service. These can be disabled in your browser settings.

We do NOT use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for marketing purposes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
